Your first blog post

You’ve all set up your blogs now, and I have your URLs. (If I don’t, please email it to me ASAP.) Next up, I’d like you to write your first blog post — an introductory post of 250 to 350 words, linking to at least three outside sources of information related to your beat.

If you haven’t yet chosen a beat, do one you’re considering. Tell us what you hope to accomplish with the beat you’ve selected. Assign a category and at least two tags. Remember, you should use very few categories — maybe just two in this class — and as many tags as you can think of.

As an example, see this post I wrote about the New Haven Register outsourcing its printing. I’ve got one category (Media) and nine tags. Categories help organize your blog. Tags help people find you on Google.

In addition to your post, please change your About page to something about you and your blog. And change your subhead to something so it doesn’t say “Just another site.”

Your deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 12, before class.
